Anupama tells Prem that the first morning task of the competition is about to begin. She says that only those who perform well will move forward. Prem tells her that he will give his best effort. He asks her not to worry. She tells him that she is nervous. He tells her that they will support each other. They walk to the competition hall together.

The judges enter the hall. They greet all contestants. They tell everyone that the first round is crucial. They explain that cooking is more than skill. They further say that a dish must connect to the heart. They tell Anupama and Prem to listen carefully.

The head judge tells them that the task is not just about satisfying hunger. He says that the food must touch the soul. He further says that cooking is an art and understanding the person who eats is also an art. He asks Anupama and Prem to prepare a dish that reminds the judges of one of their most beautiful memories. He further says that the food should make the judges feel they had been searching for that taste for a long time.

Anupama gets upset. She asks Prem how they can know the judges’ memories. Prem tells her that the challenge is unexpected. He says that they need time to think. He asks the judges if they can get a moment to discuss. The judges agree. They leave the hall.

Anupama tells Prem that she feels lost. Prem tells her that she should not lose hope. He decides to focus on a memory that is universal. Anupama says that she will think of a memory from her childhood. Prem decides to do the same. They return to the competition floor.
