Dhamaal 4 is finally in theatres and honestly the excitement was on another level for the fans of this franchise. From day one itself the vibe in theatres was something else, and looking at the early trend and opening day numbers, its pretty clear the makers again went with the same masala family entertainer formula that worked before. Lets talk about the story, acting, technical side and of course the box office numbers of Dhamaal 4 in detail.
Story of Dhamaal 4 - Another Crazy Treasure Hunt
Movie starts with Guddu and his buddy Johnny who run an antique shop together. Guddu gets to know that a guy named Prithvi knows where pirate Shaitan Singh's hidden treasure is. Johnny is not fully convinced if this info is even real but Guddu trust his source completely and just leaves to find Prithvi without wasting time.
Meanwhile a pirate leader called Adhoora has already caught Prithvi on his ship and wants the treasure map from him. During an argument the map accidentally catches fire, so now only Prithvi knows where the treasure actually is, thats why Adhoora decide to keep him alive instead of killing him. Prithvi manages to escape when the ship docks and runs off to a place called Chamboli.
As soon as Guddu hears Prithvi is in Chamboli he leave right away, and his girlfriend Aaliya also sends her two kids Amaira and Aarav along so they can bond with him. On the way Guddu spots Prithvi running and chases him all the way to a rocky cliff.
Here we also meet Adi, his brother Manav and Adi's wife Rosy who are already at the same spot looking for the treasure. A hot air balloon crashes nearby too and out comes Lallan with his newly married wife Paaro, and Lallan also wants his share of the treasure now.
Best part of the movie comes when Prithvi is hanging from the cliff edge and everyone forms a human chain to save him. Adhoora also shows up with his gang around same time but he don't wanna harm anyone coz he still needs Prithvi alive for the treasure.
Prithvi finally tells everyone that the real treasure is on some far away island and there's a second set of clues waiting there. So the whole gang sets off by sea towards the island, and on the way we get a dangerous crocodile-infested channel, warning shots fired from Adhoora's ship, and a funny ghost prank pulled by the kids at night.
First Half vs Second Half - Where Does It Slow Down?
Talking about pacing, first half really keeps you hooked. The human chain rescue scene and the crocodile portion both get proper laughs in the hall, and the kids ghost prank scene also works well for family audience.
Problem starts once story reaches the island. Second half treasure hunt part feels way too stretched and lot of jokes just dont land there. The emotional angle between Lallan and Paaro in the climax also gets mixed reaction from viewers - some feel jokes about Paaro's body went a bit too far, and some found the repeated Manav-injuring-Rosy gag getting old real quick.
Acting Performances - Who Steals The Show?
Ajay Devgn brings full energy throughout and shares good comic chemistry with Sanjay Mishra. Riteish Deshmukh as Lallan stand out with his facial expressions, while Arshad Warsi plays Adi with real ease, looks effortless.
Biggest scene stealer is definitely Jaaved Jaaferi, his Manav gets the funniest scenes and his emotional bond with Adi also connects well. Sanjay Mishra once again nails his dialogue delivery and comic timing, Anjali Anand leaves good mark in her emotional scenes, and Sanjeeda Shaikh feels natural as Rosy. Ravi Kishan is impressive as pirate Adhoora, Upendra Limaye also shines in his important role, and Vijay Patkar as the frustrated sidekick Jheenga gets consistent laughs. Child actors Akshara Padwal and Riyansh Dabhi are cute and natural too.
Technical Side - VFX, Music And Camera Work
VFX by NY VFXWaala works fine in some places but looks kinda tacky in the green screen portions. Production design feels a bit too loud and theatrical, while cinematography is decent enough. Editing could've been tighter especially in the ghost sequence. Background score suits the madcap vibe of the film well. Song 'Saree' is already getting good response, and the recreated 'Paisa Lao' track based on 'Bella Ciao' surprises people too.
Dhamaal 4 Box Office Collection Day 1
Now coming to the part everyone actually wants to know - the box office numbers. As per trade reports Dhamaal 4 earned around Rs 13.75 crore net on day one in India. Sacnilk puts the India gross figure at Rs 16.50 crore.
Overseas market also gave good support, adding around Rs 5 crore more. So overall worldwide gross on opening day crosses Rs 21.50 crore.
Overall occupancy stood at 24 percent across 10,669 shows nationwide. Maharashtra circuits saw the biggest crowd turnout, while Delhi-NCR also had healthy footfalls especially in evening and night shows.
Trade experts are saying this opening easily beats the early prediction of Rs 12-13 crore that was doing rounds before release, and its really the franchise value thats driving all this momentum.
Day 2 (Saturday) Collection Jumps Up
Positive word of mouth clearly helped on day two. Saturday afternoon and evening shows saw a noticeable jump in occupancy, and trade sources estimate Saturday net collection to be around Rs 20 crore.
Film is also benefiting from having no big Hindi release competing directly for next three weeks, basically an open run. And since its U/A certified, families are bringing kids along without any hesitation.
Where Is The Film Performing Best?
Distributors say the film is doing best in mass belts. Single screens in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are showing strong numbers, and multiplexes in Mumbai and Delhi are holding steady too. Nostalgia factor from the older Dhamaal movies is also bringing back repeat audience this time.
Final Verdict - Should You Watch It?
Overall trade experts feel Dhamaal 4 is a fair entertainment package for families and kids. First half keeps you laughing constantly but second half dips a bit before the emotional ending. Actors have given their full commitment to this crazy script.
Opening weekend numbers suggest the film is set for a healthy theatrical run, and franchise value is once again proving its worth at the ticket window. If you're looking for a light, no-brainer family comedy this weekend, Dhamaal 4 could be a decent watch for you.
