Safe Place ~ A RakApa FF

Safe Place ~ A RakApa FF

Aparajita stood frozen near the entrance, heart thudding. A tall silhouette shifted in the dim light, and for a moment she swore it was him — Lalit. She blinked hard, pressing a hand to her chest. Just her tired mind playing tricks. She exhaled and walked inside, refusing to let old fears rule her. The start of something quiet and new whispered around her, something that felt like the first page of this RakApa FF Episode 1.

Across the office corridor, Rakshit’s voice cut clean through the silence. He faced Ira, arms crossed, disappointment etched on his face.

Rakshit:Why did you lie, Ira? Saving Arvind in the river… that was never you.

Ira looked down, shame flickering.

Ira:I wanted your family to like me. I thought a big story would make them accept me faster.

Rakshit shook his head slowly.

Rakshit:Lies don’t build love. You are not an outsider, Ira. You are my friend. But you keep hurting Aparajita, and I can’t watch that anymore.

He walked away without another word, leaving Ira standing alone. The air felt heavy, but for Rakshit, the direction was clear.

Later, in the colony, neighbor Richa approached Malti with a bright smile, invitation for puja in hand. Before Malti could respond, another woman intervened, voice syrupy and careless.

Woman:Aparajita won’t stay married long, Richa. Trouble between husband and wife. Better to invite only the mother.

Richa hesitated, then turned to Malti with an awkward smile.

Richa:Malti ji, just you come, okay? Small gathering.

Malti’s face remained calm, but the words settled like stones. The woman leaned closer, whispering to Malti about no place in heaven without a husband, about making Aparajita reconcile. Ramgopal, standing a little away, heard every word. He said nothing, but his jaw tightened.

Malti found Aparajita later, still at the office.

Malti:You haven’t come home yet? It’s late.

Aparajita looked up from the saree consignment, eyes tired but steady.

Aparajita:Work is almost done, Maa. I’ll leave soon. This place… it keeps me sane.

Employees trickled out one by one. Rakshit lingered near the door, watching Aparajita drape a saree over her arm, checking the weave with pure focus. She handled every thread like it mattered. He smiled to himself.

Rakshit says in his mind — “She is the whole package. But that package doesn’t have my home address on it.”

Aparajita caught him staring.

Aparajita:Something wrong, Rakshit sir?

Rakshit fumbled.

Rakshit:No, I was looking for a consignment file. You carry on.

Aparajita:Everyone left. It’s safe here. This office… it’s my safe place now.

Arvind appeared then, and Rakshit left with him, though his mind stayed behind.

Outside, the security guards got absorbed in a movie on their phone. Lalit slipped past them, footsteps silent, eyes fixed on the office door. Inside, Aparajita hummed softly, placing the last saree in Rakshit’s cabin. She turned to leave, and there he stood.

Lalit:I’m sorry, Aparajita. Please forgive me.

Aparajita’s body went cold. She stepped back.

Aparajita:No. Leave.

Lalit:One chance. That’s all I ask. A woman needs a husband. A companion.

Aparajita:A woman is her own companion. I don’t need you.

She pushed past him and ducked behind a heavy door, locking it. Lalit pounded on the wood, then in frustration grabbed a water bottle and flung it at the electric board. Sparks burst. He didn’t notice the small fire starting as he stormed out.

Smoke curled under the door. Aparajita coughed, eyes widening at the orange glow near the switchboard. Instinct kicked in. She rushed to the consignment, hurling bundles out of the fire’s reach. Then she darted into Rakshit’s cabin and grabbed Shastri ji’s special saree — the one he valued most.

The security guard saw smoke and dialed the fire brigade. Aparajita, arms full, heard footsteps in the corridor. She froze, certain Lalit had returned.

Aparajita:Don’t come near me! You don’t get to touch me again. Four years of chances, and every time betrayal. You think a husband is a right? It was torture.

Her voice cracked, but she stood tall. Rakshit, who had rushed back seeing the smoke, stopped mid-step behind her. He heard every word. His chest tightened.

Rakshit says in his mind — “She wasn’t just unhappy. She was broken, and hiding it all alone.”

He called her name gently.

Rakshit:Aparajita…

She spun around, shock replacing fear. The fire crackled behind them, but in his eyes there was no pity — only quiet understanding. The flames died down eventually, but something between them had kindled, a trust that would shape the next chapter of this RakApa FF.

Precap: Aparajita thanks Rakshit for always trusting her, and he warns that the road ahead won’t be easy. She learns Lalit and his mother are moving into her colony and braces herself for the storm.
